Mercury Opposes Uranus - Conversations Across the Table
Mercury sits on one side of a long table. Uranus sits on the other. Each has their own ideas and purpose and not surprisingly they don't mesh all that well.
"We need truthful communication. How can we find a place of
agreement if we are hiding our intentions?" declares Mercury.
Uranus argues, "Change. We must have change. And now! I am tired of the rhetoric. It's time to take a stand. If rebellion is called for, then so be it."
This isn't their first confrontation, they have
been circling this issue for a couple of weeks now. It won't be
the end of their story either. Another month will pass before
they hash out an agreement -- or not. Both sides have their
points of view and both are adamant about their convictions. Still,
they really need to find a compromise, one that will satisfy both
their needs and let them walk away from the table with a sense
of self esteem.
Looking beneath the facades we can see the Uranus
is craving security; the world has been shifting beneath its
feet for way too long. The status quo is simply not working,
hence the hunger for a new direction, one that won't twist and
topple on a daily basis. Mercury is tired of wondering what is true and
what is not -- and if anything or anyone can be trusted. Does any of this sound familiar?
To find a meeting place we must have openness and
honesty. We need to discard that feeling of living on the edge of a precipice; there IS solid ground if we choose to claim it. We need to
forget about keeping secrets --
you know the ones we tell ourselves, the ones held closely by
fear or embarrassment. It's time to face our demons, our regrets,
our longings. Not an easy chore.
We are nearing the middle of this arbitration which
is just one part of the continuing story of Fall. Change is afoot; stasis is not an option. We are in the midst of turmoil, taking sides
and drawing lines in the sand. Even if we cannot stand hand to hand and
shoulder to shoulder we must find a way to work together. Small
personal changes become ripples on a global pond. Compromise is the eye
of the storm where we can come together; and together we can change the
world.
Let us each do our part.
